About Scott D. Gilliam, MFT |
In psychotherapy we create a safe space where you and your issues find a voice. Here the tender issues of the heart can unfold. Psychotherapy is called the 'talking cure' because a dialogue between the client and the therapist begins the process of discovering the way out of our limitations, towards greater fulfillment, and satisfaction in our lives. But Psychotherapy is a lot more about just talking; it's also about feeling our feelings accepting our losses, and transforming ourselves. : it's about creating the changes we want in our lives or learning to accept the changes we face. In Psychotherapy we confront our deepest, darkest and most exhalted possibilities. Although my practice is primarily informed by Humanisitic and Depth Psychology I also draw from many other schools of psychology such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Developmental psychology and even methods such as meditation from Western and Eastern Spiritual Practices. Therapy is designed individually so the approach is differing for each individual however I seek to integrate all aspects of an individual, and use different methods at different stages of therapy, as well as suggesting outside resources such as referrals made to help address change on all levels of your being at the appropriate stage that your at in your life. This approach is designed to help you experience rather than simply think about change. |
Perhaps everything terrible is in its deepest being something that needs our love. Rainer Maria Rilke |
